But wait, there's more: The surprisingly good Admission and the unsuprisingly mediocre  Olympus Has Fallen.  For the latter I was gonna make a "what does Antoine Fuqua have against Koreans" joke with a punchline referring to Do The Right Thing, but I wussed out. 

This is as good a place as any to put a service advisory. Blogging's going to be lighter than has been usual lately for the next six weeks or so. The good news is I have been commissioned to write a book, scheduled to be published in Spring of 2014. The bad news is I have a really insane deadline. I won't say who it's for or what it's about just yet because I'm still sufficiently stressed out to be susceptible to jinx superstitions, but I will say that it's film-related and for a well-known and respected publishing concern. So bear with me and wish me luck and I'll keep you informed as I'm able, relative to my comfort level. Thanks in advance for your consideration. 

Service Advisory

So my labors on a Blu-ray Consumer Guide for October were interrupted by a Playstation 3 issue, e.g., the Blu-ray function of the machine ceased to function, and I was briefly tempted by the blandishments of no-doubt fly-by-night non-authorized "repair" centers promising laser replacement for less than forty bucks on their ads, and then ominously requesting a walk-in for an estimate when actually contacted. So I bit the bullet and went through Sony its own self, which offered me two options: repair for around $125, or a NEW UPGRADED model for about $100. What a world. Of course I sprang (sprung?) for the latter in spite of being relatively hard-pressed to afford either. In any event, these things take time, and I wound up losing about ten days worth of domestic Blu-ray viewing so it looks like an October Guide is gonna...be a bit of a stretch. So it's more likely that the next Blu-ray CG will be something along the lines of a...wait for it...Holiday Edition. In which the Blu-ray of which there's a tiny picture of the box art above and left will be considered. Aren't you excited, sorta? Stay tuned.
