For Ebert, a tribute to Claude Lanzmann; the image at left is from Shoah.
Also for Ebert, reviews of The First Purge (ugh) and Under the Tree (not bad).
For the Times, in Streaming, a roundup of documentaries, hopefully not too TMI.
There, in reviews, Bleeding Steel, Constructing Albert, and The Citizen.
I saw Shoah for the first time when the Criterion Collection issued it five years ago. A seldom and profound experience during the summer, which lingered far longer than any TV series. This was a fitting tribute to Claude Lanzmann.
