Or I guess I could have gone with, "I wanted a mission, and for my sins, they gave me one," or something.
So anyway, I'm in Venice. The Italian one. Covering the film festival for RogerEbert.com. That thar thing above is the island of San Giorgio. I think.
The first two installments of my Venice diary are up; the first covering Black Mass and the next covering The Danish Girl. More to come, including furious panel participation action.
There's more to Venice than just movies, though. Check it out. Here's sunlight glinting off of St. Mark's:
And here's Tintoretto's depiction of The Ascension, yo:
And here's the Madonna of Pontassiere, by Fra Angelico:
"I love the use of the colour blue by the artist."

Glad to hear Black Mass is worthwhile. I admit I have been skeptical of it being more than mediocre.

Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right! Unless you were goin' all the way...
"So anyway, I'm in Venice. The Italian one."
The Rose Cafe is nothing special, but it's a local landmark worth checking out. Also, make sure to rent a bike to speed around the beach bike path.

Glenn, when in Venice don't miss this the best ice-cream parlour of them all, Gelateria Nico, and its Gianduiotto: a slice of gianduia chocolate drowned in a cup of whipped cream. Gelateria Nico, address Dorsoduro, 922 (Vaporetto stop: Zattere).

Congrats, Glenn! You are now Fit to Print on movies. Well deserved.
However, I do feel I must point out the NYT style guidelines on bylines not having two first names. Why do you think Tony is A.O., for example. Please correct this in your next piece, or I'll be forced to write a sternly worded letter to Margaret Sullivan.
