Drop "Of the late '50s-early '60s" and what I immediately think of is Dawn Weiner from Solondz's Welcome to the Dollhouse...there's a scene in that movie where she tries to saw off a barbie doll's neck and she does it while sitting on her bed

The doll on Dorothy Comingore's bed in 'Kane' has always fascinated me - is it from Susan's girlhood or has she caught CFK's collecting mania? Another of the film's unanswerables.
