The punch line to one of the worst punning jokes in the history of Western Civ frequently comes to mind when I'm compelled to contemplate the work of former gamine Virginie Ledoyen. Now almost 33, she is, as you see above, one of those beauties of whom it can be said that age cannot wither, nor custom stale, her infinite OH HAI appeal. The lucky fellow with his hand on her breast is Emmanuel Mouret, writer, director, and star of Shall We Kiss, a largely nifty French sex comedy that's one of three pictures I consider in my last column as IFC's guest critic for March. The other two are a couple of rather more earnest American pictures, one a triumph, the other a disaster. I invite you to learn more here.
She is very pretty. That is all.

I interviewed Ms. Ledoyen once, and it was the longest fifteen minutes of my life. Total communication breakdown, much aggravated by my being intimidated by her beauty, which is as potent if not more so in person. Not much of a story, I know, but any time I see a picture of her now it's a real "the horror...the horror..." moment.

Is Cold Water ever going to come out on DVD?

@Scott: Not anytime soon, alas. First: music rights are a big hassle. Second: For some bizarro reason, the U.S. rights to the film are held by Universal, which is even less interested in this film than it is in "Taking Off" and hundreds of other fantastic films in its catalog.
If you ask Assayas himself, you get an answer containing some very entertaining gesticulations.
