Made it...
After a reasonably hellish transit and some other hassles, I am firmly ensconsed, as they say, on the Croissette, although glitches continue to arise. My residence has no wi-fi, for one thing. Also, the current configuration of the blog is such that I can only post "body" copy, that is, there's no fold under which to continue. A bleg to Typepad adepts: I'm sure there's a simple fix for this, but I'm still too foggy to find it, so if anyone wants to e-mail me some help or put a hint in comments I'd be mighty grateful.
Here's a picture from dinner last night, which took place at the much-bruited Le Pizza. My friends, Hollywood Elsewhere's Jeff Wells and Cinematicals James Rocchi, here embody the pulse-pounding excitement that suffuses the evening before the first day. Also, now you see why I'm so eager to put stuff below the fold.
Because of the element of surprise, you see.

That's a great photo, but I'm a little disturbed at how much Jeffrey Wells' hair resembles my own. At least he's just arrived at the biggest, busiest film festival in the world and no doubt suffering from time discombobulation. Me? I'm at work & have no excuse.

Surprise that Wells apparently does a killer Christopher Walken impersonation? That's an excellent photo. I'll see if I can figure out the typepad jump for you.

Ironically enough, Rocchi's the one who does a killer Walken voice. Maybe they could pull off a Kathy Selden...

Now I'm never going to be able to read a thing Wells writes without hearing Christopher Walken in my head. Thanks guys.

Glad you made it, Glenn. I can't wait for the reviews.
Oh, and Dan, "Dust Devil" is arriving from Netflix tonight.

I hope after taking that picture that you told them you were joking when you said they had to pay your tab for you! ;-)

Actually, that Wells guy put me more in the mind of Dan Hedaya. The other one just looks like a film critic.

Wells' readers will instantly recognize Uncle Festus.

Let me know what you think, Bill, you can just drop a comment in my blog. :-)

I'll do that.

Hilarious pic, looks like you guys are having fun.
Looking forward to your review of 'Indiana...' Glenn.

Glenn: I don't use Typepad, I use WordPress, but I was curious about your dilemma because I've never seen a Typepad blog split posts. Apparently, it can be done, though. I found this page that might help you (if the interface is still the same).

Someone's already asked me how stoned I was when that photo was taken. Who looks daisy-fresh after 36 hours of travel?
Posted by:James Rocchi | May 14, 2008 at 04:38 PM
Holy crap, Wells does look like Walken there. It's an image that'll be hard to remove from my burned retina.
And by the way, Glenn, so glad you were able to get this blog up and running after your unfortunate early departure from Premier.com. I only went there to read your blog anyways, so they've got one less hit.

Yeah, that's about how excited I feel after a day on an airplane.

Just put me in the middle of pic, and that is how I see the future panning out....
Enjoy it man!
