Let's go.
As Steve Albini used to say.
Well. Aren't we all cozy here.
Over at the site known as "In the Company of Glenn," I was contemplating posting an entry that I would give the dual title of "Which Way Is Up?/A Delicate Balance." And then I realized: I'm under no obligation to do any such thing. I can just set up camp at my own blog, once I create it and title it.
Sure, I'll miss the title "In the Company of Glenn." It was moderately clever. And yet. "Some Came Running"...in a way, it has to do with my own heart a little more...
The above screen cap is, of course, Mr. Dean Martin in the immortal Minnelli film. The cap below, poor Michel Piccoli trying to emulate DIno in Godard's Contempt.
Consider this space the drunken boat we stand in, trying to pull either and/or both of these figures out of the water. Not to be loopy, or maudlin, or anything. Just a fancy way of saying...let's hang, my friends.

Some Came Running it is, good sir. Keep it coming.

Who's making Manhattans?

Don't stop.
And say hello to Bruce + Manny for me next time you hit DMG.

Well, thank for the quick sprint down here. We ought to have some fun soon. Once my head stops spinning...

Nice to have the immediate transition. It'll be fun to see what you come up with on your own time. :-)

Sucks about the Premiere gig. Your reviews were one of the main reasons I had a subscription way back when. Glad to see you continuing the blog. Damn the man, save the empire.

I know you're probably still in shock, friend-o, but didja have to go and invoke Steve Albini? Christ on a cracker that boy's a wanker. I will never forget him announcing portentously at the beginning of a set at the Middle East in 1995, "We are Shellac. And we're here to bring rock to the people."
That said, I am looking forward to you bringing, er, rock to the people.

Very excited that you set up shop so quickly. But take the weekend off, man.
Good luck with the blog and everything else. I'll stick around to continue supporting my favorite film writer.

I am a regular reader who only found your blog a little while ago and am not smart and tricksy like the other people who post here but I just want to say please keep on blogging sir.

I'll take the inclusion of a still from "Contempt" as comment on your old employers...
Glad you've found this home for your blog. My fingers are crossed you'll find somewhere for your reviews.
Cheers!

Good to see you back Glenn. Premiere have clearly lost the plot completely.

Woohoo! Already subscribed to the feed.

I was getting sick and fucking tired of "Skip this Ad" anyway.

When I saw your new blog title, the voice in my head pronounced it like Michel Piccoli: "Zum Kehm Rooning." Then I got here, saw the grab from CONTEMPT and thought to myself, "Zis must be de place!"
Living well IS the best revenge.

That was quick. Welcome back already, Glenn!

Dear Glenn,
It is Victoria (ex Premiere international) here. A voice from the past. I just wanted to send a shout your way to say hello and bravo for your own blog. Silly frenchies don't deserve you.
Maybe you will come down to New Orleans (my new home). We have a film festival in October that definitely needs to be blogged about.
I send lots of affection.

Glad to see you up and running again so quickly! :)

I went to the Premiere site to see about any updates (such as this site) and had to sit through another damn "Skip This Ad." Thankfully, now I can just skip that site and visit this one. Glad to have you back.

Good to see you're back!

Hey, has any LJer on here set up a feed for said blog site yet?
Posted by:Dan | May 09, 2008 at 09:37 AM
Moderately clever? Bite me!

Thanks, all. Now the bad news: I've made a complete hash of my login info and at the moment can't post. Am awaiting tech support. Keep coming back, it'll work!!!

Best wishes to you in your new corner of cyberspace, Glenn!

Glad to see you have your own space now to continue posting!

Great to have you back. In typical Orwellian style, the old "In the Company of..." blog, btw, no longer exists at the Premiere site. History, re-edited.
I've added this to my favorites, dropped "Premiere," and will urge friends and readers to do the same.
